Now it is time to start the second week of dieting. Last week I managed to lose 0.6 kg which is better than nothing at all so I am satisfied. I have slipped somewhat behind my goal schedule but that is nothing to worry about since the weekend is just behind me. Lets see what happens this week

2006-09-25 - Post vacation
I have been on a vacation for some time and I was somewhat worried about that I would have gained a lot of weight. Well, I didnt gain a Lot of weight, just some.
I am now at 73.4 kg and will now slowly start a more healthy life style again.
Around new years celebration I plan to reach my perfect BMI value which is 20.7, to do so I need to reach 66.5 kg which is not so much for a man.
So it is 7 kg I need to trim off my body in about three months.

2006-08-08 - Some success
Hi all,
last night I went to the gym and did some jogging for 7 km. This made me drop some weight and I am now down to 71.9 kg. Which means that I am least starting to see the goal that I set out to reach i.e. to reach 70 kg. I will now diet for 13 more days until I'll have a break for one month.
Can I reach the weight in time?
No idea
I'll try.

2006-08-05 - Slow slow
My diet is going slow and slow. Yesterday I went to the gym for some weight training, did jogging for 3 km, and in the evening I took an 80 minutes walk. And the food eaten was good foods, nothing too bad there at all. What happened?
Well, I lost 0.2 kg. That is hard.
Today I went back to the gym and did jogging for six kilometres which according to the machine burnt off 400 calories. And today I have decreased the food intake even more.
Lets see what happens until tomorrow.

2006-08-04 - Slow times
Things have not been going good lately and my weight has increased some to 73.1 kg again.
That is not a major setback but at the same time it is not what I was hoping for.
Lets see how it goes today, I plan to go to the gym and take a walk but you never know until the day is finished what actually happened.

2006-07-28 - Hardship
Yesterday I was presented with some happy personal news and today those news were shattered and replaced by really really bad news.
So this week ended in a really depressing way for me and I even ate some spring rolls. After that I fell asleep on the couch and then I woke up and felt guilty about the rolls so I went outside for a long jogging tour which made me feel better.
I hope the week ended better for the other members of DietGuild. Next week we try again. I am still at 72.8 kg this morning so not so bad weight wise. But I Do have to fight very hard to lose any weight at all now.
Is it this hard for everybody to lose weight?

After some hard days where my weight just refused to go down no matter what I did it has finally taken a jump downwards again. I am now down to 72.8 kg and it feels good.

2006-07-23 - Sunday activities
Today has been a rather good think exercise wise and food wise. I went to the gym and had a workout and then I had a jog for 3.5 km. In the evening after dinner I had a long walk so it should be ok.
The dreaded weekend is over and a new fresh week starts soon. I have to say that my diet is finally starting to go ok, however, it does take a lot of exercise and strict food to lose Any weight at all for me.
Who said it was easy to lose weight?

This weekend I have been experimenting with fibers and their effect on my body. The reason is that I realized last week that when I diet I eat very far from ok amounts of fiber which is severly messing up my digestion. More on this later when the experiment is done.

2006-07-22 - Progress
This week I have worked hard to lose weight with small amounts of calories and trips to the gym and jogging and long walks. And it has paid off some, maybe not as much as I hoped for but still paid off.
I am now down to 73.4 kg (165 lbs) and I am planning to make this a good weekend.

2006-07-19 - On the right track
My diet is now on the right track again after having problem with a bloated stomach for a number of days.
I have managed to get down to 73.9 kg (166 lbs) and I feel that more is about to come.
Here's a good tip, right after you eat your dinner, brush your teeth. That way you will be much more resistant to eating some snacks or small things after dinner and you'll get a couple of good food free hours before you go to bed.
For me it is always most difficult to diet in the evening and this tip makes it somewhat easier since I really dont like to brush my teeth twice in one evening.

Today I have been to the gym and now I am eating some tuna sandwich and after that I am off for a one hour walk. I am feeling pretty good about my diet even though I am back to 74.9 kg again. It will soon go down again.

2006-07-11 - Comeback
Today is my big comeback, I went to the gym and it was great. As it always is when I do manage to get there.
There is one truth I know and that is: If I go to the gym absolutely everything feels better in my life. I get more energy, my body feels much better, I can sleep better, my motivation rises, my diet gets much better and on and on.

So do some weight training or similar activity if you really need to get started!

I lost about 0.4 kg since yesterday and is now down to 74.4 kg again. I have big hopes for this week.

2006-07-10 - Raining
Hi,
today it is raining very much here in Sweden and that is good and bad. Good because it refreshes the air some and reduces the high temperature but bad because I get wet
Believe it or not but I am still having some coughing to deal with but I will go back to training from tomorrow by a stop at the gym. Maybe that is what is lacking to put me right back on track, the past weekend I did gain a little bit and is now up to 74.8 kg again, which is not a disaster really but it is after all in the wrong direction.
I am dealing with some personal difficulties which puts me down quite a bit.

2006-07-05 - Still sick!
For some reason I am still sick which prevents me from doing any serious dieting efforts which leaves me on basically the same weight day after day.
It is now 74.5 kg and now I am starting to slip just a tiny bit behind the schedule so my number one priority now is to get well again so that I can start to exercise and cut down on calories.
This is somewhat annoying as you can certainly imagine.
I'll try to drink only water today and see if it will help with the coughing, also eat lots of vitamines.

Today it is very hot and sunny, I'll soon go out for a long walk. I didn't check my weight this weekend, will do it monday morning instead. It is not good to be too obsessed with the weight checking either.
I expect the next week to be a very good weight losing week. The weather will be good and that will be a key reason.

Even though I have been sick and the last couple of days has been extremely hard to deal with for personal reasons I have managed to drop some weight which leaves me still better than my goal curve.
I am down to 74.4 kg now which means that I have lost 3.6 kg (8 lbs) since I started.
I realized that more important than losing lots of weight is to not gain the weight you have lost again.

So keep it up people, keep working on getting those pounds off your body

A new week starts and my cold is wearing off, I am now ready to increase my dieting efforts again.
Perhaps not at full speed since that would make me sick again right away.
During the cold I haven't gained any weight which is very good.
This week I hope to make some significant drops in weight, but I'll make a slow start to be
on the safe side.

2006-06-22 - Feeling better
Today I am feeling somewhat better again and by tomorrow I should be ready to start my diet again for real.
Maybe a bad day to start cause in Sweden tomorrow is midsummer celebration which means some extra food perhaps.
I am quite surprised how well I have kept my weight during the days I have been sick. I am now at 75.5 kg which is not what I had expected at all since I have been eating more or less anything that comes my way to give calories to my body to fight.

Today should be the turning point of this unwanted condition.
It brings me down some to be sick and not being able to do much about it.

2006-06-20 - More sick
Today I am more sick than yesterday. On the up-side I manage to lose some weight yesterday so I am down to 75.6 kg now. Still ahead of my goal curve so no problem there. This is a nice thing with having a clear goal, if some days are not perfect then you can just step back and look at where you should be in order to reach your goal and then realize that: Hey I am ahead so I take it easy today and it will be better again tomorrow.
Now my focus is on figthing the disease so that I can start my walking again.
Any good tips on how to fight a cold in the fastest possible ways? Please leave a comment to this post

2006-06-19 - Sick
Last week's diet proved to be too tough for me and now I have gotten a sore throat that is getting worse as I write this.
This was completely unexpected since I am usually very resistant to colds during the summer time.
But not much to do about it, I just need to ride it out.
In the weekend I gained some weight again which was expected and I am now starting this week at 76 kg, which means that the first week of the diet I dropped 2 kg which is very good.
This week will not be as good since I need to increase the calories some to fight the cold. And also midsummer is coming up with traditional foods.

2006-06-17 - Another drop
My weight loss is still going very strong and I am now down to 74.9 kg (165 lbs)
which is a result that I am very pleased with. How did I do it in only a few days?
Well, I have been writing it down in my diary each day the past week so backtrack it there
and then get inspired and next week you can do the same

Today the weather is nice so I am planning to have a long walk and then tonight I
will eat something tasty since it is saturday and I don't expect much weight loss
from today since I am already much ahead of my goal.

2006-06-16 - Good drop
Yesterday I managed to get a good drop in weight again, 0.4 kg (0.88 lbs)
even though I wasn't as motivated as earlier this week. But today I am feeling
more motivated again so I expect good results.
Now I need to drop another 5.2 kg (11.4 lbs) to reach my goal, a lunch walk
will help me do this and perhaps an evening walk as well.
I also plan to eat a shrimp salad for lunch.

2006-06-15 - Slowing down
Today my weight loss has substantially slowed down and I haven't dropped anything.
In fact I am still in the same place as yesterday. This was expected since the major
weight loss can't continue for a long time, so I see yesterday as a day in between where
the body gets used to the new weight. It is also important to remember that
day-to-day changes in weight is greatly governed by different amount of fluids in the body.

Well, today we keep it up
The best way to fail is to give up and that is not what we are going to do, is it...
There are no short cuts.

2006-06-14 - Further success
Today's weight has dropped another 0.4 kg (0.88 pounds) to 75.6 kg (166.3 pounds).
This is very ok with me since it is a major drop for one day.
How did I do it?
Yesterday I tried to eat good foods such as shrimp salad and I drank a lot of fluids such as
water and sprite zero. I also did a one hour walk during my lunch in the very hot sunshine and
I am sure that this made all the difference.

How will it go today? Well, too early to tell yet but so far so good.

For lunch I had a shrimp salad and water. Nothing too bad there...
And a walk for 50 minutes in the sunshine. I became very warm

2006-06-13 - Good start
My first two days of my tough goal have been very successful and I have dropped two kg (4.4 pounds) in these two days. That is extraordinary good and will not continue but in the beginning the results are always the greatest.
I have cut down on food pretty much and I have included a number of walks during the day.
This certainly pays off very fast.
Today I am off to the gym for a session there and then home to eat some low calorie sushi.
Now I have only six kg (13.2 pounds) to go.

Later on today I went to the cinema to watch Mission impossible 3 with tom cruise. It was quite good and action packed.

2006-06-12 - New goal
Inspired by my weight gain I am starting a new goal today.
My current weight is 78 kg (172 pounds) and by july 20th I will be down to 70 kg
154 pounds. That is rather tough and I'll have to fight hard to get there for sure.

2006-06-11 - Insight
I haven't checked my weight for some days and this morning I checked it again.
What had happened?
Yes, I had gained weight, and pretty much as well.
How come? I can't really say that I have been eating more or worse the last week,
the only thing I can think about is that I have not gone to the gym in the last week due
to some should pains which I don't want to escalate into some major injury.

It appears that when I leave my weight unattended that it skyrockets in no time at all.
Just like a baby that you turn your back to for just a little while.

Well, I have a plan for all of this. In about nine days something major is changing in my
life which will give me the ability to do some very serious dieting and training.
That will be the time for me to get back to the roots and do what I know works for me.

Until then, I'll try to maintain the weight or possibly lower it some but at least not gain any more.

Remember people, keeping your weight is an ongoing battle and the best way to do
it is to make a major life style change.

Today it is friday again and it is Very humid and hot today, no sunshine though.
Last night I went to see some nice music at the street party that is going on in my city at the moment.
It was a good exercise to stand up for three hours, a nice change since I sit down in my work all day long.

2006-06-04 - Sundays are good and bad
What I like about sundays is that I am off work and what I dont like is that just one day later it is back to work again.
But while it is still sunday I should enjoy it, last night for example, I was in the mood for some sausage which dieters know is not a very good thing to do it.
I came up with the following idea: I go get me some turkey sausages which was a perfect solution, still very tasty and much lower in calories.
This might be one of the keypoints of losing weight, when you get in the mood for something that is not so good for you, try to replace it with something better.

Now it is off to the gym for me, see you later!

Remeber, to lose weight you cannot just do a three day diet you need to stick with it for a long time and minimize the days where you sin.

2006-05-31 - Raining
Today it is raining outside and when I came to my office I was quite surprised since the front door was trashed by someone. It turns out that thieves have been inside the office during the night and they stole about 6 computers and some other things. This is the second time it happens in one year which is quite uneasy. These days there is just no way to keep your things to yourself I guess, is the world slipping into more and more crime?

We'll see what the police will find out today, probably nothing though.

2006-05-28 - Rainy day
Today is it raining on and off. Sundays happen to be my laundry day so while waiting for the laundry to dry I went to the gym for some exercise. It was a little slow today and I could see that I was not the only one feeling this way. It seems like the whole city is sleepy today.

For lunch I am having a chicken salad which is within my valid diet meals. The rest of this day I will spend not doing so much, relaxing some, mentally recharge for the next week to start.

2006-05-26 - Fridays are great
Today it is my favorite day of the working week, friday.
A nice beautiful weekend is coming up and with a training session during my lunch the day just keeps on getting better.
One thing I have noticed now when I have started doing more serious weight training is that I get much more hungry. It is like my body is craving more food, when I go jogging I don't have this feeling at all. This also leads to that I eat more to maximise my training which is not going to reduce my weight. Well, one thing at a time, with this training I am feeling great and isn't that what it's all about it in the first place...

2006-05-23 - Diet and time of the day
What is mostly keeping me from losing the weight I want to lose?

Well, I think we all know the answer to that. I eat too much and maybe not the best types of foods always. I am only human and temptations arise here and there at any given time.

It is interesting to examine when this happens. In my case it happens during weekends and evenings. How come?
Well, you come home in the evening from work and you are tired and all you want to do is to relax and enjoy something nice.
Combine this with stress about something that is going on in your life, and there you go: It is easy to start eating. Most adults are very aware of that stress arises frequently and for many reasons and can be very difficult to handle in a reasonable way.
If people didn't have to go to work or care about money then I am sure that many more would have a nice comfortable weight because they are not stressed out of focus constantly.
There are of course solutions for this, since we know that lots of people manage to do all of these things successfully.
With time we are going to get to these solutions and start using them ourselves.

2006-05-21 - The weekend
This weekend has been quite relaxing, been raining as well.
I have been to the gym for a surprisingly good workout. On my way there I was sure it was going to be bad but it was very very good. Always nice when that happens.

Lately some new members have signed up with DietGuild which is very nice and makes me feel extra motivated!
I welcome all of them and hope that they will reach their goals, whatever that may be.

The summer time is just around the corner, at least in my part of the world which is Sweden in norther Europe. This also means that I need to lose some more weight to feel comfortable with myself. I am sure that next week will be a good move towards this.
My long term goal is to reach a BMI value of 20.7 which according to some experts is the 'perfect' value to have. That is when most other people believe that you look your best.
However, it is a pretty low weight for most people I think. Anyway, I'll reach it and then see how I look and feel and report about it.

2006-05-19 - Diet and energy
Today I am feeling somewhat tired for reasons unknown to me.
This is a good time for me to remember that cutting down on calories
makes my body react with much higher energy levels.
I guess it has something to do with that the body gets scared that no
more food is coming so I better allocate some energy so that the body
can go out into the woods and hunt down some new food.
No matter what the reason is it is a great way to increase my energy.

Combining it with some exercise, for example a long walk is great,
will increase the energy further. Also increased energy means higher
motivation, so it all becomes a positive circle that can only be broken by
some external event that we are not in control of.

2006-05-15 - Curse of weekends
Monday again, the weekends pass by way too fast for my taste.
The past weekend I have been eating pizza among other
unhealthy things.
It is very nice to diet and I get ok results but when the weekend come things
are turned upside down.
The good thing is that I am aware of it, which means that I can change it.
Being aware of a problem is usually the first step towards solving it.

This evening I will take my car to the annual checkup,
hopefully it will pass without any remarks unlike last year.

2006-05-08 - Summer
Now the summer has clearly arrived here and the weather is really nice and warm!

Yesterday I went to the gym again and repeated last session's exercises and it felt good.
Surprisingly it again appears to be better for me to do weight training than jogging when
it comes to weight loss. This morning I had lost some weight again and now it is
starting to go pretty good.
It will be very interesting to see the next coming days what will happen.

2006-05-03 - New Test
My diet is not going as I expected this year. There are a number of reasons
for this that are very personal.
Today I will change one thing, I will cut down on jogging and increase weight training instead,
in fact, I will try to separate jogging completely from the weight training.
My hope is that the increased muscle training will be of greater benefits as a whole.

2006-04-29 - Benefits of being sick
After suffering from being sick I can finally smile about the side effects,
I did lose a lot of weight during this time.
Dropped 2.5 kg in fact, which is very nice, now I should try my best to keep it off.
Even though I know that a lot of it is fluids that will be refilled again.
But lets be happy anyway

This just goes to show that losing weight is not written in stone how it should be done.

2006-04-28 - Sick as a dog
Last evening I suddenly became very sick. Some kind of stomach problem,
so I spent a long night awake with pains and many visits to the toilet.

And today it is not getting better at all, not fun at all. At least diet goes good
because I don't want to eat anything at all.
However, this is not my prefered way to lose weight...

2006-04-25 - Spring
Now it looks as if the spring has finally come here to stay. Very late this year...
My diet has not been going great lately for various reasons.
However, it is not going very bad either, I have increased some weight but not too much.
Now I intend to drop some weight again.
The problem is that right now I am busy with many
other aspects of life and then it is easy to eat less healthy foods.

Today I went to the gym after not being there for a while, it was a little harder today because of the break.
But it felt good and afterwards it feels great.

Easter has gone by and as expected I did gain some weight,
but nothing too bad. I'll be back on track soon again.
I have eaten tasty foods without really caring about the nutrients,
and as a result I am feeling refreshed and ready for some

Also the weather is picking up nicely with consistently rising temperatures.

2006-04-13 - Easter coming up
Easter is approaching fast which is a good thing and maybe a bad thing.
I know what holidays can do for my diet and easter is not an exception.
Easter is full of candy, good foods and drinks.
All normal weight loss food is thrown out the window
However, life is not just about dieting, you need to live as well and enjoy
the fruits of life. So I don't worry too much about it, if I gain some weight
I'll just get rid of it again next week.

Today I've been to the gym again for some jogging and some weight training.
I am quite about that I have managed to establish that I visit the gym a
couple of times each week. Makes me feel good and helps me losing weight.
After the exercise I followed up by eating sushi for lunch which is very healthy and tasty
and especially, low calories.

Today I went to the gym as promised and the results are immediate.
Since I started my new goal yesterday it is going really good again.
I did jogging for about 5 km which is a good distance for me and then some
weight lifting after that.

2006-04-10 - Disaster weekend
The past weekend has been a distaster with regards to my weight.
In just two days I have lost the whole last week's weight loss.
Furthermore, my stomach has become very bloated which indicates
that there are lots of excessive fluids in my system for the time being.

How come?
Well, starting saturday lunch time I ate too much and continued like that for
the rest of the weekend.
Eating this much also made me tired which kept me from going to the gym as I had planned.

What do I learn from this?
That weekends are evil and that I am not in full control of my eating habits. Yet.
Now a new week has started and I am sure that my weight will drop substantially until tomorrow so
everything is not lost. Humans do learn from mistakes given enough time.

Today is saturday and this is always the biggest challenge for my diet.
Already some sausauge landed on my lunch plate, who knows what will
happen later tonight.
Well, tomorrow it is off to the gym again. It is important to refresh mentally

Today I went to the gym again and did some good jogging there.
It was nice and afterwards I get filled with energy.
Actually first I get energetic, then after I shower and eat I get really tired,
then later in the evening I get highly energized again.

The last two days I haven't been able to get some solid sleep. This makes me

2006-04-03 - One week to go
The first week of my goal has passed and the result is ok I would say.
I have lost one kilo, which is slightly less than expected but it is
anyway ok since it is a good weekly rate if I keep it up.

This is going to be a very exciting week so my hopes are high.

has been snowing and raining.

Finally friday is here after a long week. A slight weight gain today.
Nothing to worry about since other positive things happened today.

All in all this has been a good week even though the weather is still
grey and raining and the occasional snow fall.

2006-03-29 - Tuesday tiredness
Today I have been feeling very tired which is very surprising. I expected
to have more energy than usual but I believe that it is the dark and sad
weather that is showing its ugly face still.
I even had a nap in the evening after I came home!

Let's see how it goes tomorrow...

2006-03-28 - Flying start
The first day was very successful and I got rid of a lot of fluids
in my body. Right away I have much more energy.
Today I'll go back to the gym as well and get some good exercise.

My body always reacts very strongly to changes and today is no different.
This is a good thing but also a bad thing.
Good because it lets you know immediately what your body thinks about
something you did.
And bad because the tolerance level for mistakes that I make is very low.
For example, if I drink a cup of coffee my body will tell me strongly how much
it dislikes it by giving me pains for days.

Today I start this years weight loss efforts for real.
Mainly because last years results are slowly disappearing
which is not at all what I want.

2006-03-24 - Coffee
Today I again drank some coffee and can again conclude
that my body reacts very negatively to the caffeine inside.
I would do myself a big favor if I dropped all food and drink
items that contain caffeine.
